Since starting our honey brand, we have enjoyed flavor testing and experimenting with honey in various dishes and drinks! Including honey to a recipe to add our signature twist has lead us to some of favorite creations today. So naturally, we want to share what we’ve learned! Kind of like when you’re so obsessed with a new drink or movie, or song, and you want to tell EVERYONE around you? Well…we are pretty obsessed with Good Honey and can confidently say that you’ll enjoy this sweet twist on a classic bevie: enjoy our Good Honey Margarita.
All you need:
- Tequila
- Lime
- Good Honey
Thats it - Tajin rim optional!
Why Clover Honey?
We believe our Montana Clover is one of the most versatile for cocktails and other beverages. It’s mild, with a gentle sweetness and floral undertones that won’t overpower other ingredients. Our Clover doesn’t compete with the tequila and lime – instead, it elevates the drink.
What You’ll Need for the Good Honey Margarita
You don’t need to overcomplicate a great margarita. Here’s what you’ll want on hand:
Ingredients:
- 2 oz silver tequila (or mezcal for a smokey flavor, Trader Joes mezcal is our favorite!)
- 1.5 oz fresh lime juice (about one lime)
- 1.5 oz Good Honey simple syrup (instructions below)
- Ice
- Tajin for the rim (optional)
- Lime wedge for garnish
Making Clover Honey Syrup
Honey is thick, and it doesn’t blend well into cold drinks without a little preparation. That’s where honey syrup comes in, and it’s incredibly easy to make.
- Combine equal parts Good Honey and hot water in a small jar or saucepan – you can make a single serving by combining 2 tbsp of honey and 2 tbsp of hot water
- Stir until the honey completely dissolves.
How to Make Your Clover Honey Margarita
- Prepare Your Glass If you like a salted rim, we recommend to rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it in Tajin. Set the glass aside
- Combine Ingredients In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, fresh lime juice and Good Honey syrup. Add ice to the shaker.
- Shake It Well Shake the cocktail for 15–20 seconds, until the shaker is frosty and you can feel the chill. This means everything’s nicely mixed.
- Pour & Garnish Strain the cocktail into your prepared glass over fresh ice, or serve it neat if you like. Garnish with a lime wedge or twist and enjoy!
Why You’ll Love This Margarita
Our Good Honey margarita has a layered flavor profile: it’s bold from the tequila (or smokey from the mezcal), fresh and tangy from the lime, and softened by the subtle floral sweetness of the clover honey. Unlike a regular sugar simple syrup, honey adds depth and a unique sweetness you cannot replicate with anything else.
